Selecting a flow meter is not about finding the "best" technology — it is about finding the best fit for your process. Answer these four questions and the right YOYI instrument almost selects itself.
Conductive liquids such as water and wastewater point directly to the YYEM electromagnetic series. Non-conductive hydrocarbons call for a YYTB turbine or YYCO Coriolis meter. Gases are the territory of the YYTM thermal mass meter, while steam is best handled by the YYVT vortex series. Fluid conductivity and dielectric properties eliminate half of the options in the first five minutes of any selection exercise.
Every technology has a sweet spot. Coriolis meters dominate small to medium lines where accuracy is money; clamp-on ultrasonic meters such as the YYUS series scale economically up to DN6000 where inline devices become impractical. Always size the meter so your normal operating flow sits in the upper third of the meter's range — turndown matters more than maximum capacity.
Distinguish between accuracy (error versus a true value) and repeatability (consistency run to run). A batching process may live happily with ±0.5% repeatability from a turbine meter, while a custody-transfer duty justifies the ±0.1% of a YYCO Coriolis meter. Over-specifying accuracy is expensive; under-specifying it is even more expensive.
Straight-run availability, pressure loss limits, space for maintenance and hazard classification all constrain the choice. A clamp-on YYUS ultrasonic meter sidesteps most mechanical constraints — no pipe cutting, no pressure loss, no shutdown during installation.
