Portable sets include transducers, mounting rails, couplant, cables and a rugged carry case. Insertion transducers are available for lines where clamp-on signal is weak.

How It Works

Two transducers exchange ultrasonic pulses alternately upstream and downstream. Because sound travels faster with the flow and slower against it, the transit-time difference is directly proportional to the average flow velocity — and from velocity and pipe area, the meter calculates volume flow.

Clamp-on transducers keep the process fully sealed, so installation requires no shutdown. Wetted inline versions use the same electronics with a spool piece for the highest accuracy.

Frequently Asked Questions

How clean must the pipe be?

Inside the pipe, loose scale or heavy liner buildup can scatter the signal. An insertion transducer or an electromagnetic meter solves badly fouled lines.

Does pipe material matter?

It must conduct sound — steel, stainless, cast iron, PVC, PE and copper all work. Concrete and lined pipes usually need insertion transducers.

Can it log data?

Portable YYUS-P units log flow, velocity and totals with timestamps; fixed units can push data via Modbus or 4-20 mA to your SCADA.
